The Belarusian nuclear power plant is a multi-reactor nuclear power plant project in Belarus.
The first reactor of the nuclear power plant is expected to be operational by 2018, and the second one by 2020. The first two reactors will have the combined capacity of around 2400 MW. It is possible that two additional reactors will be built by 2025.
The nuclear power plant is expected to cost up to US$5 billion.In addition, there are investments to upgrade the national power grid for power transmission from the nuclear power plant, and the construction of an urban settlement for the power plant's workers.
About 5,000 people are now working at the construction site. The necessary housing infrastructure for them is being created. Twelve houses for construction workers and nuclear power plant specialists will be commissioned in Ostrovets by the end of the year. Seven houses of the kind were built in 2015. The construction of the first residential area in Ostrovets has been finished already. Work in the second residential area will be finished by the end of the year. The construction of the third residential area will begin in 2017.
